The MyTruckMate Driver Agreement
This page is a plain-language overview of what it means to drive on MyTruckMate — it isn't the binding agreement itself. The specific terms are presented for your review and acceptance during registration, and again before each job you accept.
For the platform-wide rules that apply to every account, see our Terms of Service.
Quick summary
This page is a plain-language overview — the binding terms are presented for acceptance at registration and before each job.
Drivers are independent contractors, not MyTruckMate employees.
ABN, licence, vehicle documents, address, and ID are each verified independently by Support.
You earn 85% of the job value via Stripe; the platform currently retains 15% commission.
Day Driver Hire funds sit in escrow, released by Support only after job completion.
You're responsible for your own vehicle and public liability insurance.
Independent Contractor Status
1.1 You're an independent contractor, not an employee
Drivers on MyTruckMate operate as independent contractors, not as employees of MyTruckMate. You choose which jobs to accept, use your own vehicle, and are responsible for your own tax obligations, superannuation, and business insurance. MyTruckMate does not direct how you perform a job beyond the details agreed for that booking.
Registration & Verification
Every driver goes through the same independent verification before their first job — no self-approval.
2.1 ABN and identity
If you operate as a sole trader, your ABN is verified against the Australian Business Register (ABR). Alongside this, you'll provide proof of identity and a current residential address, each checked as part of onboarding.
2.2 Licence and vehicle documents
You must hold a valid driver's licence appropriate to the vehicle you intend to drive, and provide current vehicle registration and related documents. Each document is reviewed individually by a member of our Support team — never automatically approved.
2.3 Independent review by Support
Every piece of verification — ABN, licence, vehicle documents, address, and identification — is reviewed independently by Support before your account is approved to accept jobs. If something needs correcting, you'll be told exactly what and given the chance to resubmit.
Accepting & Completing Jobs
3.1 Bidding on marketplace jobs
For standard jobs, you submit a quote or bid, and the customer or business chooses who to engage. Once your bid is accepted, you're committed to completing that job under the agreed terms.
3.2 Day Driver Hire bookings
Day Driver Hire lets a customer book you directly for a fixed period rather than through bidding. These bookings are prepaid by the customer and held in escrow until the engagement is complete.
3.3 Completing a job
You're expected to complete accepted jobs as described — on time, with the freight or passengers cared for appropriately, and with clear communication if something changes. Mark jobs complete promptly through the app so payment can be processed.
Payment Terms
4.2 Escrow release for Day Driver Hire
Funds for Day Driver Hire bookings are held in escrow from the time the customer pays until the job is confirmed complete. Release to you is always a manual action taken by Support or Admin after reviewing job completion — never an automatic timer.
4.3 GST and your earnings records
If you're registered for GST, your invoicing reflects that accordingly. You can export your earnings from the platform to support your own Business Activity Statement (BAS) reporting — you remain responsible for your own tax filings as an independent contractor.
Vehicle & Safety Standards
5.1 Keep your vehicle roadworthy
Your vehicle must be registered, roadworthy, and appropriate for the jobs you accept. Keep registration and any required inspection certificates current in your profile so there's no gap in your ability to accept jobs.
5.2 Drive safely and within the law
You must comply with all applicable road rules, fatigue management, and licensing requirements for the vehicle class you're driving. Unsafe driving or repeated safety concerns raised by customers can affect your standing on the platform.
Conduct & Professionalism
6.1 Represent yourself professionally
Communicate clearly with customers, arrive as agreed, and handle freight or passengers with care. Treat other users of the platform — customers, businesses, and Support staff — with respect.
6.2 Keep your information honest and current
The details you provide about yourself, your vehicle, and each job must be accurate. Providing false information, or misrepresenting a job's completion, is a serious breach of your agreement with MyTruckMate.
Cancellations & No-Shows
7.1 Cancelling an accepted job
If you need to cancel a job you've already accepted, do it as early as possible so the customer has time to find another driver. Late cancellations, and especially no-shows, are taken seriously and are reviewed by Support.
7.2 Repeated cancellations
A pattern of last-minute cancellations or no-shows can affect your rating and, in serious or repeated cases, your ability to keep accepting jobs on the platform.
Account Suspension & Good Standing
8.1 What can lead to suspension
Accounts may be suspended for lapsed licence or vehicle documents, unresolved safety concerns, a pattern of cancellations or no-shows, or breach of the acceptable use terms described in our Terms of Service. Where possible, we'll tell you what's needed to resolve it.
8.2 Staying in good standing
Keep your licence, registration, and identification documents current, complete accepted jobs reliably, and communicate promptly if something changes. Drivers who do this rarely see their account reviewed at all.
Insurance & Liability
9.1 You're responsible for your own insurance
As an independent contractor, you're responsible for holding your own vehicle and public liability insurance appropriate to the work you take on through MyTruckMate. MyTruckMate does not provide insurance on your behalf, and liability for a job sits with you as the driver who accepted it.
