MyTruckMate Privacy Policy
This policy explains what personal information MyTruckMate collects as you use our freight marketplace, how we use and share it, and the rights you have over it — all in line with the Australian Privacy Principles and the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth).
See our Terms of Service.
Quick summary
We collect account, verification, location, and job details — payment details are held by Stripe, not us.
Information is shared only with the other party to a job, Stripe, and the ABR for verification — never sold.
You can access, correct, or complain about how we handle your data, including to the OAIC.
Stripe may process payment data outside Australia as part of its global infrastructure.
MyTruckMate is not intended for use by anyone under 18.
This policy follows the Australian Privacy Principles under the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth).
What We Collect
We only collect what's needed to verify accounts, match jobs, and process payments — nothing more.
1.1 Account and contact details
When you register, we collect your name, email address, phone number, and password, along with your role on the platform (customer, driver, business, fleet, dispatcher, or support). For businesses and fleets, we also collect your Australian Business Number (ABN) and entity details as part of verification.
1.2 Licence and vehicle documents
Drivers provide a driver's licence, vehicle registration and other vehicle documents, proof of address, and identification, each of which is reviewed independently by our Support team as part of onboarding. We retain these documents to demonstrate compliance and to re-verify your account periodically.
1.3 Location information
We collect pickup and delivery addresses for job matching, and, where you enable it, a driver's live location during an active job so customers can track progress. Location sharing outside of active jobs is optional.
1.4 Payment information
Payment details such as card numbers and bank account information are collected and held directly by our payment processor, Stripe — MyTruckMate does not store this information on our own systems. We do retain records of transaction amounts, dates, and invoices for accounting and dispute-resolution purposes.
How We Use Your Information
2.1 Operating the marketplace
We use your information to create and secure your account, verify eligibility, match jobs between customers and drivers or businesses, process payments and payouts, and provide customer support.
2.2 Safety and compliance
We use verification information to confirm ABNs against the ABR and to check licence, vehicle, address, and identity documents before granting full platform access, and to investigate disputes or reports of misconduct.
2.3 Communications
We use your contact details to send job updates, booking confirmations, invoices, and important account or policy notices. Marketing communications, where sent, always include an option to opt out.
Data Security
4.1 How we protect your information
We use industry-standard safeguards including encrypted connections, access controls limiting who inside MyTruckMate can view sensitive records, and separate, secured handling of payment data via Stripe rather than storing it ourselves. No system is completely immune to risk, and we continually review our practices as the platform grows.
Data Retention
5.1 How long we keep your information
We retain personal information for as long as your account is active, and afterwards for as long as needed to meet legal, accounting, and dispute-resolution obligations — for example, invoicing records and verification documents may need to be kept for several years under Australian tax and record-keeping law. When information is no longer needed, we delete or de-identify it.
Your Rights
Under the Australian Privacy Principles, you have real rights over your own information.
6.1 Access and correction
You can request a copy of the personal information we hold about you, and ask us to correct anything that's inaccurate or out of date. Most account details can be updated directly in your profile; for anything else, contact us using the details below.
6.2 Making a complaint
If you believe we've mishandled your personal information, contact our privacy team first so we can investigate and resolve it. If you're not satisfied with our response, you have the right to lodge a complaint with the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) at oaic.gov.au.
Overseas Disclosure
8.1 Payment data may be processed overseas
Our payment processor, Stripe, may process and store payment-related information on servers located outside Australia as part of its global infrastructure. Stripe maintains its own compliance and security standards for handling this information across jurisdictions.
Children's Privacy
9.1 MyTruckMate is not intended for under-18s
Our platform is intended for use by adults registering as customers, drivers, or businesses, and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If you believe a minor has provided us with personal information, contact us so we can remove it.
Changes to This Policy
10.1 How we update this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes to our practices or to applicable law. We'll update the 'last updated' date on this page when we do, and material changes will be communicated to you directly where appropriate.
